Rachael is the daughter of Jason and Cheryl Essington. She received her first piece of sailing kit, a life jacket, inutero. In fact. That was her very first possession. She began swimming lessons at 6 months old, and she completely loves water of any kind. Rachael has been taking trips on Karma since shortly after birth. Her current duties include ensuring that the snack level in the cabin never exceeds the capacity of the shelves. She also guarantees that the Legos in the cabin are never neglected. Recently Rachael has learned to tail the winches, and harden up the halyards.
As the sailing seasons go by, Rachael becomes more and more interested in sailing and being on the boat in general. She loves to help run the boat any way she can, even when she is not physically capable of performing the task (i.e. trimming sails in big wind). By the time her strength and dexterity catch up to her knowledge of boat handling, she should be quite the capable sailor.
